The latest season of Netflix’s Black Mirror ascended to the top of Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of April 7. The sci-fi favorite was one of five Netflix titles to land in the Top 10, with three of those coming with shared-distribution rights.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, the seventh season of Black Mirror racked up 1.575 billion viewing minutes in its second week on the chart. It’s the show’s best performance ever, beating out its previous high of 1.549 billion minutes viewed during the week of June 19, 2023. It’s also the second time Black Mirror claimed the the No. 1 position—with the other time being the week of June 12, 2023.
Once again, the 18-49 demo accounted for 71% of the show’s total viewing minutes.
Another Netflix show occupied the No. 2 spot; Ransom Canyon galloped onto the chart with 1.120 billion viewing minutes. The western was popular with the older demos as 64% of its viewing audience was comprised of 50+ viewers. It also leaned heavily female, with women accounting for 62% of the total audience.
The Netflix titles were the only ones to cross the billion-minute viewing mark, with the rest of the chart mainly consisting of “comfort food” titles.
Grey’s Anatomy ranked in third place with 956 million viewing minutes across Hulu and Netflix. Disney+’s Blue followed at No. 4 with 907 million minutes viewed.
Over on Max—soon to be HBO Max (again)—The Last of Us placed fifth with 805 million minutes viewed.
The bottom half of the chart found NCIS logging 746 million viewing minutes across Hulu, Netflix, and Paramount+ for sixth place. The Handmaid’s Tale had 745 million viewing minutes at No. 7, followed by Young Sheldon, which had 734 million minutes viewed across Max and Netflix.
Hulu occupied the final two spots of the chart courtesy of the long-running animated series Family Guy, which had 711 million viewing minutes at No. 9. The Rookie took tenth with 692 million minutes viewed.
