BOSTON — To set the record straight, no, Juan Soto does not fly separately from his teammates on a private jet.
Soto traveled with the Mets on their charter to Boston on Sunday night, just as he has for every road trip this season. That’s in direct contrast to a report that surfaced Monday that accused Soto of “getting a private jet … to away games.” The statement misinterpreted the words of ESPN broadcaster Karl Ravech, who said on Sunday Night Baseball that Soto’s contract includes various off-field perks for him and his family members.
Nothing in Soto’s contract affects his travel. He commutes with Mets teammates, coaches and front-office staffers to all road games, just like everyone else on the roster.
Soto, who is in the first season of a 15-year, $765 million contract, entered Monday’s play slashing .246/.379/.443 with eight home runs in 46 games.
