NEW YORK – Rangers catcher Jonah Heim left Wednesday’s game against the Yankees in the bottom of the second inning because of a right hand injury.
As teammate Jacob deGrom was warming up on the mound, Heim had problems throwing the ball back to his teammate. The Rangers trainer and manager Bruce Bochy then decided to take Heim out of the game and replace him with Tucker Barnhart.
Heim appeared to suffer a stinger in the hand during the top of the second, when he singled to right field against Yankees left-hander Ryan Yarbrough. Heim was seen shaking his hand while standing on first base.
