Longtime NBA guard Jamal Crawford was known for his killer crossover dribble on the basketball court. On Tuesday, Crawford — with the help of a former MLB star — will make the crossover into baseball.
Crawford, All-Star center fielder Dexter Fowler and MLB Network’s Matt Vasgersian will host MLB Tonight: Crawsover Edition at 7:30 ET tonight. The episode will be available to watch on MLB Network, MLB.TV, X (formerly Twitter) and MLB.com.
This is the first of two planned baseball telecasts featuring the two stars, who teamed up together for three “Courtside Crawsover” alternate broadcasts during the 2024-25 NBA season.
Fowler and Crawford will welcome several celebrity guests while offering unscripted, unique commentary during the 2 1/2-hour Crawsover Edition, which will deliver whiparound coverage of up to 13 games in progress, including live look-ins. Clips from the telecast will be shared in real time, and polls and questions will be posted for Fowler and Crawford to engage with.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Jamal, Matt and MLB Network for a night like this,” said Fowler, who was part of a similar 2024 broadcast. “Getting the chance to talk baseball with some of the biggest stars and find out how they fell in love with the game will be great. Jamal has a passion for baseball and we’re always going back and forth on different stuff happening in the game, so it’ll be fun for fans to see a little bit of that.”
A Seattle native, Crawford played for nine different teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks, during his 20-year NBA career. He has contributed as an on-air analyst to TNT and MSG Network and is set to be a lead game analyst across NBC and Peacock starting in October.
He’s also a big Mariners fan who threw out the first pitch at T-Mobile Park in 2021 and is excited to talk baseball with Fowler, who spent 14 years in MLB and helped the Cubs win the 2016 World Series.
“I’ve always loved the crossover appeal of every sport,” Crawford said. “There’s something special about watching elite athletes compete — whether it’s on the field or on the court, that level of intensity gets me hyped. That’s the kind of energy Dex and I are excited to bring to the broadcasts — bridging worlds, celebrating greatness and connecting fans through the universal language of competition.”
