Listeria is a dangerous bacteria that can cause hospitalization or death, especially among people who are pregnant, over 65, or have weakened immune systems, according to the CDC. The symptoms of a listeria infection can start the day you eat the contaminated food, or up to 10 weeks later. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
